Here’s a quick and easy guide on the WordPress navigation system!
Dashboard
In this section, you can track your comments on others’ blogs, read blogs to which you’ve subscribed, read friends’ blogs, and manage your friends list. The dashboard allows you to interact with other blogs quicker and easier.
Write
As the name implies, here you can write both posts and pages. The difference between posts and pages is that posts are constantly being shifted down with the addition of new posts while pages maintain stationary in the sidebars (should you choose to add the Pages widget). Posts are mainly used for updates and minor information while pages contain more timeless information and important information concerning a cause.
Manage
Here you can view, edit, or delete your pages and your posts. You may also organize your posts into Categories (folders) and upload slideshows and videos. If you have another WordPress blog or if you’ve previously used Blogger, Livejournal, or other similar blogging sites, you may import your old posts from that site. Likewise, you may also export your posts into XML format if you feel the need to find another host for your blog.
Comments
You may read your comments here. Some blogs require comments to be approved before they are shown officially on the blog; those comments in “limbo” can be approved in the Awaiting Moderation page. In order to change comment moderation settings, head to Options –> Discussion.
Blogroll
If you have some blogs or links you’d like to recommend to your reader, add them as part of your Blogroll. You may also categorize these links.
Presentation
There are a variety of themes from which you can choose to customize how your blog looks. There are also Widgets which allow you to customize what you wish to put on the sidebars of your blog; there are many widgets to choose from—depending on what you would like, you may add videos, chatboxes, and more! Look to the sidebars of this blog for more information. You may also upload your custom image header here. Note: The default settings of new blogs allow only changes the left sidebar since advertisements lie on the right. You may change this by the process of “changing” your theme to the default theme.
Plugins
Plugins are a variety of potential add-on’s used to enhance the blogging experience. Experiment around!
Users
You may change your profile information here, as well as change your password and upload an avatar. If you have somebody’s email, you also have the option of making them a/an administrator, subscriber, editor, author, or contributor to your blog as you see fit.
Options
You may change various blog settings here. Examples of what you can change include blog name, date & time of posting settings, privacy settings, commenting protocol, your blog avatar, your blog description, the category of your cause, and your listed location and school.
The best way to adapt to the WordPress menu is through experimentation. Click and see!
